Account Deletion — Urban Quest

Effective Date: September 15, 2026

This page explains how to delete your Urban Quest account and what happens to your data when you do.

Urban Quest is operated by Blue Pelican Digital LLC.

How to delete your account

You have two ways to delete your Urban Quest account.

Option 1 — From inside the app (fastest)

  1. Open the Urban Quest app.
  2. Go to your Profile tab.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account (just below Sign Out).
  4. Confirm the deletion in the dialog. Your account will be deleted immediately and you will be signed out.

Option 2 — By email (if you have already uninstalled the app)

If you no longer have the app installed, you can request deletion by email:

  1. From the email address associated with your Urban Quest account, send a message to support@urbanquestapp.com.
  2. Use the subject line: Account Deletion Request.
  3. Include your account display name (if you set one) so we can confirm the right account.

We respond to email-based deletion requests within 5 business days to confirm your request and complete the deletion.

What gets deleted

When your account is deleted, the following is permanently removed from our database:

  • Your identifying account details — email address, sign-in identifiers, display name, profile picture link, bio, and listed genres are overwritten with non-identifying placeholders, and any saved password is destroyed
  • Your quest progress and completion history, together with your purchase records. This includes any paid quest whose 30-day access period has not run out — deleting your account ends that access immediately, and the purchase is not refunded and cannot be restored, so finish any paid quests before you delete.
  • Your draft and unpublished quests, and their waypoints and scenes
  • Reviews and ratings you submitted
  • Your scouted waypoints, including their coordinates
  • Feedback messages you sent us from inside the app
  • Push-notification registrations for every device signed in to your account
  • Blocks in both directions — the users you blocked, and the users who blocked you
  • Your narration usage counters and any outstanding password-reset link

Uploaded media files. Deleting your account also removes the files it held from our media host — your profile picture, and the images, audio and video inside your scouted waypoints and your draft and unpublished quests. A file is kept only in two cases: another record still points at the same file (a city edition of your quest, a shared narration clip, or a quest you published, which survives deletion together with its media), or our storage provider was unavailable at that moment, in which case the account deletion still completes and the file is left behind. Because the storage is publicly readable, any file that survives remains reachable by anyone who has its direct web address. If you believe a specific file should have been removed and has not been, email support@urbanquestapp.com with the subject "Media Deletion" and we will remove it by hand.

What may be retained, and why

In limited cases, we may retain some data after account deletion. We do this only where it is necessary for legal, security, or financial reasons. Specifically:

  • Financial and ledger records (our record of earnings, payouts, refunds, and store transactions) are retained for as long as required by applicable tax and accounting laws. Your own purchase records are deleted — see above.
  • Fraud-prevention and abuse records. If your account was involved in a confirmed policy violation, fraud incident, or safety report, we may retain the minimum data necessary to prevent the same actor from re-registering or to comply with law-enforcement requests.
  • Anonymized analytics. Aggregated, non-identifying usage statistics (e.g., how many users completed a given quest) are not tied to your identity and are not deleted.
  • Server logs and error reports. Our servers keep request logs, including IP addresses, and server-side error reports for a limited period for security, abuse investigation, and debugging. These are not searched or purged when an account is deleted; they age out on their normal rotation.
  • Our record of the ads you were shown. We log each ad shown in a quest so that creator ad earnings can be allocated and inflated impression counts detected. These records are kept indefinitely, but your account identifier is removed from them when you delete your account, so they no longer identify you.
  • Backups. Our database is continuously replicated for disaster recovery. Replicas are retained for 72 hours and then overwritten.
  • Published Creator content. Quests you already published are delisted, not deleted: they are removed from the App's public browse listings, but they stay playable for anyone who already has access or a direct link, with your authorship anonymized so other players' history stays intact. You can request full removal in your deletion request email and we will honor it where technically feasible.
  • Moderation records. Because your account record is anonymized rather than erased, moderation reports you filed and reports other users filed about you still point at it. We keep them as the record of moderation decisions and to identify repeat abuse.
  • Earned creator balances are never forfeited. If you had an unpaid balance when you deleted your account, it still exists. Deletion also clears the link to your Stripe payout account, so we can no longer send that balance through a normal payout run — email support@urbanquestapp.com and we will arrange payment another way.

We do not use any retained data for marketing, advertising, or profiling.

How long deletion takes

  • In-app deletion takes effect immediately — the deletion runs as you confirm it.
  • Email-based deletion is completed within 5 business days of your request, and in every case within 30 days.
  • Disaster-recovery replicas containing your data are overwritten within 72 hours.

Third-party services

Urban Quest uses third-party services that may hold a copy of limited data tied to your account. Deletion removes your uploaded files from our media host, and deletes the push registrations we hold, so we never ask the notification service to reach your devices again. For the providers below, deletion is not passed on automatically — we contact them by hand on request. The full list of providers, and what each one receives, is in Section 4 of our Privacy Policy.

  • Apple and Google (sign-in providers): we clear the link between your Apple or Google identifier and your Urban Quest account. To delete the underlying Apple ID or Google account itself, contact Apple or Google directly.
  • RevenueCat (purchase management): holds store transaction and receipt data. It is not given your name, email address, or Urban Quest user ID.
  • Stripe (creator payouts only): if you connected a payout account, Stripe holds the identity, tax and bank details you gave it directly. Deleting your Urban Quest account clears our reference to that Stripe account automatically — you do not need to ask — but the Stripe account itself still exists. Contact Stripe directly to close it.
  • Cloudflare R2 (media storage and disaster-recovery replicas): holds your uploaded files, and encrypted database replicas that are overwritten within 72 hours. Files your deletion removes are deleted from it as part of the deletion.
  • Resend (email delivery): holds the delivery record of emails we sent you, such as a password reset.
  • Expo (push notifications): receives your device's push token and the content of notifications we send to it.
  • Sentry (server error monitoring): holds server-side error reports generated while you were using the Service. These can include the request path, its query parameters, and your IP address. They age out on Sentry's retention schedule; we do not send Sentry a deletion request for them.
  • Google (AdMob and the User Messaging Platform): holds your device's advertising identifier, ad event data, and the crash, performance and diagnostic data its ad SDK collects. This is tied to your device rather than to your Urban Quest account; reset or limit the advertising identifier in your device settings.

If you want data removed from a specific provider, email support@urbanquestapp.com and we will help where we can.

Children's accounts

Urban Quest is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required by law in your jurisdiction). If you are a parent or legal guardian and believe a child has created an account, email support@urbanquestapp.com with the subject line "Child Account Deletion" and we will treat it as a priority and delete the account within 5 business days.
